With a series win over the Red Raiders, Texas also starts its campaign 2–1 in Big 12 play. The Longhorns were able to secure the win with quality plays from shortstop Masen Hibbeler and solid arms in the bullpen.
Texas track & field got off to a solid start at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio on Friday and Saturday. The Longhorns dominated the throws and turned in other noteworthy performances in the first meet of the outdoor season.
On Saturday afternoon, UFCU Disch-Falk Field saw a regular season record-breaking crowd of 7,879 people. Texas fans cheered on the Longhorns until the end, even though Texas’ offense couldn’t find its usual groove.
Entering Saturday’s contest, Texas was looking forward to a test against a hungry Pepperdine team. No. 20 Pepperdine started to gain attention with an earlier sweep against No. 6 UCLA. Another victory against a top-10 team would further cement its success, and the Waves clearly looked ready.
