The Longhorns' 2016 season came to an end with an 8-2 loss to TCU at the Big 12 tournament.

Texas got kicked in the teeth in its 2016 Big 12 Tournament debut against Oklahoma State on Wednesday, losing 10-4 despite jumping out to a 4-0 lead through four and a half innings. But on Thursday, the Longhorns built a lead against the Baylor Bears and never relinquished it.

The Longhorns continued their descent on the slow downward spiral that's defined the final month of their 2016 season. The familiar culprits of fielding gaffes and stagnant offense made their presence known Thursday night, sending the Longhorns to a 2-1 loss at the hands of the visiting Baylor Bears.

From the perspective of raw numbers, Texas’ 7-0 win over Prairie View A&M inched the Longhorns (21–24) one game closer to .500. 

No. 6 TCU and No. 10 Texas Tech, the two top-ranked teams in the Big 12, faced off against each other in Fort Worth in a preview of what could be the conference tournament final.

Texas’ offense came into Saturday’s doubleheader against Oklahoma State white hot, averaging nine runs per game in its last seven outings.

The TCU Horned Frogs traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma, hoping to climb in the Big 12 rankings and get one step closer to knocking off the conference-leading Texas Tech Red Raiders.

A pair of losses on the road this past weekend put a halt to the women’s soccer team’s otherwise promising start to the season, and it won’t get any easier this weekend when the reigning NCAA champions roll into Austin. 

The women’s soccer team (4-0-2) will continue its trend of playing at America’s finest beach towns this weekend at the USF Soccer Classic in Tampa, Florida.
