A Travis County district judge dismissed charges Wednesday against “The Yogurt Shop Two,” Robert Springsteen and Michael Scott, who were accused of raping and killing four teenage girls in 1991.

The prosecution, led by Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, filed a motion to dismiss the case after not being adequately prepared to proceed to trial.

Forensic analysts have yet to find a third man whose DNA was found in crime scene evidence.

I was convinced that they were not the one's back when they arrested the four of them. The DA offered a deal to Forest Welborn, who was originaly charged with the other three. He would walk free if he testified against the others. He always maintained his innocence and did not take their deal. A few months later charges were dropped against him. Tell me, if you had done something this bad but were offered a deal to go completely free, would you not have jumped at it?

Also, how did 16-17 year old kids keep such a secret for so long? If we are to believe the police they never talked to anyone other than in those confessions. In every murder case like this the killers end up talking to someone. Example was that cadet murder case in Ft. Worth. That guy and his girlfreind, were home free but she started talking at the Naval Academy.

What amazes me is how many people like a couple of the posters here, do not seem to care if these guys did this or not. Just that because the girl's families suffered so much, that they should not have had their convictions overturned. They just want someone to "oay" for this horrible crime. Someone, anyone.

These Animals DID IT !!! I was able to see the actual pictures and the evidence that was given to the court by the deffese and it proved that they were the ones but it was bad police work and bad leads that sent to police in the wrong direction, the things that those boys did to those poor girls is just evil they will pay for it when they die and go to hell

They didn't do it and I hope the truth does come out so all of the people involved in convicting them will be punished or atleast publicily humilated. I hope they find the REAL people/person who did this.

I agree the people responsible for this crime should be punished publicly, but these guys arent the ones that did it. If the public knew the things that have gone on behind the public view, they would know these guys arent the ones that did it, All the public knows is what APD has released to help convict these guys. @ Detective admits there were more promising suspects that fit the prifile, but they chose not to pursue them; detective admitted to falsifying statements; DA tried to hide all of the DNA reports, the original autopsy report was altered to eliminate the findings of one of the girls that could possibly identify the real murderer; the original report is of a robbery gone wrong, but it took a lay person to bring the detail that the register bag and money were under the counter. The parents of the girls and the families of these men need the truth to come out, but as long as the detectives are allowed to be exempt from prosecution, that will remain questionable.

Get it over with! These guys need to be convicted and start serving a term that I hope is as horrible as what they did to those poor girls.
