Kinesiology junior Jenna Deforke will represent UT in a 10-page spread - totally nude.
She agreed to pose for Playboy magazine's "On Campus" feature, which this year highlights the Big 12 Conference for the second time. The edition hits stands today, and Deforke will sign copies from 1 to 3 p.m. at Book People at 603 N. Lamar Blvd.
Deforke said she heard about the auditions in March and scheduled an appointment for the two days Playboy was here. The rest "just fell into place," she said.
Deforke said she has dreamed of being in Playboy since she was 18 years old. Her family and friends support her goals, regardless of others' opinions on the magazine, she said.
"My dad's a professional photographer, so he loves it," she said. "My grandma supports me, too, since she knows it's something I've wanted. My friends love it. ... They support me no matter what - they joke about being friends with a playmate."
She said she will not be uncomfortable if students on campus recognize her.
"I've never really cared about what people think of me," Deforke said.
Despite any negative connotations a student posing nude for a magazine might carry, the University supports freedom of choice.
"The University's position is that students and individuals maintain the right to choose," said Dean of Students Soncia Reagins-Lilly.
