The Austin Police Department is searching for brothers Brandon Bruce Hutchison and
LaBaaron Hutchison in connection with a shooting early Friday morning at Spiro's Nightclub.
No fatalities have been reported, but police said eight were injured. The shooting took place around 2:15 a.m. on 611 Red River St.
Ambulances transported six people to local hospitals and two others drove themselves. All injuries are non-life threatening, said police spokesman Sgt. Richard Stresing.
Police said the two gunmen belong to a rap group based in La Grange that performed at the Austin nightclub. During the night, a disturbance between the club promoter and the group prompted the members to exit the club. As the club closed for the night, the brothers came back carrying hand guns, walked up to the leaving crowd and fired multiple shots, Stresing said.
The brothers, also known as Big and Little Hutch, fled the scene but witnesses quickly
identified the gunmen and suggested they belong to a gang, Stressing said.
APD's gang unit was called into the investigation, but Austin police has no documentation
to confirm their involvement in any gang activity in the city. Officers are working with
La Grange and Fayette county officials to help in the investigation.
"This is just a horrendous heinous crime," Stresing said. "We think they are in the
Austin or La Grange area."
Police do not know where the two brothers are and wait for more information from
witnesses or those who know the suspects to come forward and help the investigation.
"I'm pretty sure they know they have warrants for their arrest," Stresing said. "I mean,
when you shoot up eight people, do you go back to your house? I don't know."
