A woman was mugged on campus early Saturday morning, according to UT Police Department officials and an incident alert emailed to students Saturday night.

UTPD Detective Michael Riojas said the incident occurred on campus near the 2500 block of San Jacinto Boulevard outside of the F. Loren Winship Drama Building.

The woman claimed that she was attacked by two white males who knocked her on the ground and took her bag, said Riojas. The men were allegedly wearing dark clothing and face masks.

The FBI and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the possible theft of chemical materials from a UT lab by former graduate student Karl Jasheway, 26, according to University officials.

According to a University statement, Travis County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended Jasheway for driving while intoxicated in the 3600 block of Bee Cave Road on Dec. 21.

A female UT student was sexually assaulted inside a taxi cab while on her way to the main UT campus Wednesday morning, according the University of Texas Police Department.

Trust may be a virtue, but unfortunately it’s often an important factor leading to campus theft, said UT Police Department officer Darrell Halstead.

Students reported 121 thefts in the Perry-Castaneda Library from 2009 to 2011, making it the top location for property theft on campus, said crime analyst Roxanne Hodgins.

Gregory Gym, with 115 reported stolen items, and the Jester Center, with 112, were the second and third most popular locations for thieves on campus.

Austin Police have identified Marshall David Logan as the man who reported a false bomb threat against KLRU studios Thursday night. In his 3-1-1 call, Logan alleged that there was a bomb hidden inside a piece of meat inside the studios.

According to the arrest affidavit, Logan was arrested by Friday and is being charged with a state felony since the threat was made against a public television station.

Austin 3-1-1 received a false alarm reporting a general, non-descript threat to KLRU studios in the CMB at 7:20 last night.

Austin Police Department officials visited the scene along with UT police and state troopers. Many students and UT staff, including The Daily Texan, evacuated the communications complex before police called an all-cleared at 10:05 p.m.

“There was a voluntary evacuation, and we brought in a canine to search the building,” said Darrell Birdett, spokesman for UTPD.

University Police released a report today assessing the public safety response to the Sept. 28 incident during which a mathematics sophomore armed with an AK-47 fired shots on 21st street before taking his own life.

The 18-page report notes a number of things that authorities did well that day, including the quick establishment of a unified command for the multi-agency response.
