Just a few weeks ago, rumors were that head coach Mack Brown was going to step down or even be fired from his position. After two sub-par seasons, it wouldn’t have been a complete surprise. Apparently, just the opposite is true. According to the Austin American-Statesman, Brown’s contract is expected to be extended through the 2020 season and he will continue to receive an annual raise of $100,000.
The Houston Texans dropped their last game against the Panthers, and with it came a much needed knock back down to reality for Texans fans who were ready to buy Super Bowl tickets. Houston achieved its first playoff berth by tackling each game one at a time, and will have to continue to do so as the season wears on. With as many injuries as its sustained, however, doing so will require an especially inspired effort from the few players the Texans have left.

Texas added another name to its rebuilt coaching roster on Tuesday: Bo Davis.
Davis comes from Alabama and will coach the Longhorns’ defensive tackles. He spent four years under Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa as defensive line coach, but will work primarily with Texas’ interior defenders. Davis replaces Mike Tolleson, who retired last month.
“His players have had a great deal of success, and he has been a part of some of the best defenses and teams in the nation throughout his career,” Texas head coach Mack Brown said in a statement.
