Those looking forward to celebrating the retiring of Vince Young’s No. 10 will need to make sure to cut the tailgating short and show up to Saturday’s season opener against Florida Atlantic early. According to the athletic department, the official retirement ceremony of Vince Young’s No. 10 jersey is scheduled for 25 minutes before the 6 p.m. kickoff.
The former Longhorn quarterback will be presented with a framed jersey while on the field with his family. Fans will also get to relive their favorite Young memories with a tribute video to be played during the on-field ceremony.
Saturday’s ceremony will be the first of three this year. Texas will also retire Tommy Nobis’s No. 60 and Bobby Layne’s No. 22
jerseys on a later date.
Fans who want a chance to catch Young off the field can meet with the former star at his charity benefit dinner on Friday at the Four Seasons Hotel. The event, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will benefit the Vince Young Foundation along with three Austinarea charities. Tables are still available to Friday’s event at $2,500 while an individual seat is $250.
