The Texas women's golf team shot a 6-over-par 294 to defeat Texas State by 14 strokes in an 18-hole stroke play event at The University of Texas Golf Club on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Julia Best recovered brilliantly from her final-round performance in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitation, held at the same course 12 days ago, to lead Texas with a season-best 2-under 70.

Texas State freshman Linn Gustafsson drew some attention as she nipped at Best's heels all day before finishing with an even-par 72. Texas State carded a 20-over 308.

Senior Ashley Rollins and junior Kristin Walla also turned in solid performances for Texas, each shooting a 2-over 74. The event marks the first time this season that Rollins has not been the top finisher for Texas.

Texas resumes play April 7 at the Indiana Invitational in Carmel, Ind., in its final tournament before the Big 12 Championship.
