The University of Texas' men's golf team continues competition within the U.S. Collegiate Championships today at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta with a 10:20 a.m. tee time.

The Longhorns enter this week's three-day event with tremendous momentum. Last week at the Fresno State Lexus Classic in Fresno, Calif., three Longhorns placed among the top five finishers. Charlie Holland continued his excellent play, taking first place after a three-hole playoff. The sophomore carded a 9-under 207 to become Texas' first medalist since the 2006 season. Sophomore Lance Lopez took third place with a 7-under 209, and redshirt freshman Bobby Hudson tied for fourth place with a 6-under 210.

Two weeks ago, after the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate, Texas coach John Fields expressed confidence that his young team will continue to display both their talent and potential.

"Our guys are showing signs of developing," Fields said. "We continue to grow."

Georgia Tech will be hosting a handful of top-tier teams in this week's championship. Of the 15 participating teams, eight are ranked in the nation's top 10, according to Golfweek. The Longhorns will have to play well if they hope to bring home a top finish.

This week's starters are senior Jace Moore, sophomores Holland and Lopez and freshmen Hudson and Donald Conatable. With only two months remaining in this year's season, the Longhorns are progressing and developing and still have a chance to earn a top-10 ranking by season's end.
