North Texas - Dec. 16
The Longhorns will look to build on last year's 90-51 win over the North Texas Mean Green on Dec. 16, when Texas travels to the "Super Pit" for the first time ever. Seniors Heather Schreiber and Kala Bowers combined for 41 points on 18-27 shooting from the field in last season's victory. Like the Longhorns, North Texas is loaded with experience. Also like Texas, the Mean Green have a legend on the sideline. Head coach Tina Slinker is currently the second winningest active coach in the Sun Belt Conference.
UT-Arlington - Dec. 21
Texas hopes to continue to mark W's in the win column when the Lady Mavs of UT-Arlington visit Austin on Dec. 21. Thus far, the Longhorns are a perfect 8-0 against the Lady Mavs, which includes a 73-44 win two years ago.
Sam Houston - Dec. 28
The Sam Houston Bearkats pose as the last 2004 opponent for the Longhorns. Sam Houston will make the trek from Huntsville to Austin looking to avenge a 98-51 drumming by the Longhorns in 1999. Texas leads the all-time series 2-0.
Rutgers - Jan. 2
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will look to detonate a few leftover fireworks from their New Year's celebration when they visit Austin on Jan. 2. The Scarlet Knights, who have consistently appeared in the upper echelon of both Top 25 polls this season, have captured three of nine games from the Longhorns including a victory in the two teams last meeting in 1999.
Kansas - Jan. 5
When Dr. James Naismith, Kansas's first basketball coach, founded the game of basketball, the Jayhawks women's basketball program could not have been what he envisioned. Picked to finish 11 in the Big 12, the Jayhawks struggle to find wins in their own confines of Allen Fieldhouse and on the road. The Longhorns will look to capture their first conference victory of the season when they face Kansas on Jan. 5.
Baylor - Jan. 8
Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson brings energy and excitement to the sideline which has grown as a constant when it comes to the women's basketball program in Waco. A preseason top 10 pick, the Bears fell one point shy of beating the No. 1 team in the nation - LSU - in the first game of the season. Although the Longhorns have controlled the last two meetings, look for the Bears to bring out all the stops to try and contain the Longhorns.
Texas Tech - Jan. 12
The United Spirit Arena in Lubbock, home to some of the most loyal fans in the women's game, will surely fill the seats when the Longhorns travel northwest on Jan. 12. The two teams split the series last season, each earning wins on their homecourt. The last time the two teams met, the Lady Raiders out-lasted the Longhorns 62-49.
Connecticut - Jan. 17
The last time these two storied programs met was a 71-69 Connecticut victory in the NCAA semifinals in 2003, and the game was the most-watched national semifinal game in ESPN history. Although the two teams will play right in the heart of their conference schedules and not for a berth in the championship game, the game is once again slated for ESPN2.
Unlike their last meeting, the Longhorns won't have to face the brilliance of Diana Taurasi, who scored 26 points on one ankle. The Longhorns will, however, have to face an experienced Huskies squad that has what they want - a National Championship trophy.
