It was deja vu for junior sprinter Alexandria Anderson at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

Anderson, who continues to be a bright spot for the University of Texas women's track and field team, once again began the day with a great start at the Jim Duncan Track at Drake Stadium.

On Wednesday, Anderson qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash, winning her heat in the preliminary round and then taking third in her heat of the semifinal round, placing sixth overall. Anderson competes in the final round of the 100-meter dash today at 8:35 p.m.

Yesterday, the junior from Chicago and seventh-ranked athlete in the 200-meter dash, finished first in her heat during the preliminary round of the 200-meters with a time of 23.2 seconds. Anderson finished with the fourth-best time of the preliminary round, which was more than good enough for her to advance to the semi-final round.

Anderson's success continued in the semifinal round of the 200-meter dash, where she finished third place in her heat with a time of 23.07. She finished the round in fifth place overall, which, yet again, proved to be more than enough to qualify her for the finals of the 200-meter dash.

The final round of the 200-meter dash will take place Saturday at 3:37 p.m.

Sophomore Betzy Jimenez did not achieve nearly the success that Anderson has enjoyed. Jimenez, who was not granted an automatic bid but rather an at-large bid to the NCAA Outdoor National Championship, finished the 1500-meters in 23rd place among 28 runners with a time of 4:29.68 during the preliminary round. Only the top four from each heat, along with the following four best times, advanced to the semifinal round of the 1500-meters.

Sophomore shot-putter Jordan Brown was also unable to claim any substantial success. Brown, missed qualification for the final round of the shot-put competition by 0.14 meters. Brown will not be competing in the shot put finals.

Senior Temeka Kincy's career as a Longhorn is over. Kincy advanced to the semifinals of the 800-meters but narrowly missed out on a berth to the finals by one spot. Kincy finished in ninth place at 2:05.61.
