History was made Thursday night at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center when the Texas A&M women broke two all-time Big 12 records on their way to cementing themselves as the top team in the conference.

Winning all four races of the day, Texas A&M was led by Canada native, junior Julia Wilkinson, who eclipsed the conference's 200-yard individual medley time by almost two seconds and led the Aggie 400-yard medley relay team to a second record-breaking performance.

The Texas women separated themselves from the pack, climbing out of the three-way tie for second place. Trailing Texas A&M 325-271, they now stand alone in second by more than 85 points thanks in part to divers Mary Yarrison and Kathryn Kelly finishing first and second in the 1-meter diving event.Yarrison finished on top 329.05-323.65, both more than 40 points higher than third-place junior Kendra Melnychuk from Missouri.

"You always know it's going to be a great battle between those two," said Texas coach Kim Brackin. "There is a great rivalry there. They want to beat each other, and that's the way it should be."

Texas swimmers landed second-place finishes from junior Hee-Jin Chang in the 50-yard freestyle and sophomore Susana Escobar in the 500-yard freestyle.
