For the first time in six seasons, the Longhorns have cracked the top 10 of the ITA women’s college tennis poll. Coming off a win at Clemson, the women have vaulted up six spots to become No. 9 in the country.
This season has had its ups, as well as its downs, as the Longhorns carry a 4-3 record into their next match.
The team has earned victories against North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Clemson, all of whom have been ranked in the ITA top 20 this season. Their three losses have come against top 10 foes Georgia, Virginia and Miami.
Junior All-American Aeriel Ellis continues to run the show, moving up to No. 30 in the ITA singles rankings. Newcomer Noel Scott has played a key supporting role, currently ranking No. 87 in her freshman year.
The Longhorns will take on No. 8 Northwestern in their home opener today.
