It wasn’t an easy start to the season for freshman outside hitter Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani. The Los Angeles native began her career for the Longhorns seeing little of the court behind Texas’ multitude of hitters. But it was Bedart-Ghani who was the key to the Longhorns 3-1 victory over Minnesota on Thursday, sending Texas to the national championship.
Tied at one set apiece and down 7-3 in the third, head coach Jerritt Elliott called a timeout and motioned his team over to the sideline. Elliott knew he had to stop the bleeding after a second set in which his team was decimated by an under-seeded Purdue squad.
