Over the past several years, the biggest sports programs at Texas, especially football and basketball, have floundered despite huge budgets and continued national relevance.
The home turf advantage in Saturday’s Texas Invitational served the Longhorns well as they were able to pick up four victories along with 12 top-five finishes and nine personal-best marks.
The hometown stretch of the Longhorn’s meet schedule started off in fashion as the Longhorns took four victories from the Texas Invitational on Saturday.
For the fourth time this season, the Longhorns found themselves on top of the leaderboard after the final round after winning the Morris Williams Intercollegiate tournament this past weekend.
Highlighted by a strong performance from senior Desiree Dubreuil, who finished tied fifth at 5-under-par 211, the Longhorns women’s golf squad completed the PING/ASU Invitational in seventh place.
Back in October 2011, the Big 12 selected West Virginia to become the Big 12’s 10th member instead of Louisville. Near the conclusion of the first year, it seems that the move may have blown up in the Big 12’s face.
