Before Texas broke through, the game went scoreless for 70 minutes. But in less than a minute, the Longhorns scored the two goals that would propel them to a 2-1 win over the Wildcats at Mike A. Myers Stadium on Sunday.
Redshirt freshman quarterback Jerrod Heard, who started his first collegiate game for the Longhorns in front of 86,458 fans Saturday, threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns, adding 96 rushing yards as he led Texas to a 48-24 win.
After failing to score a touchdown in their season opener at No. 9 Notre Dame, it didn’t take long for the Longhorns to find their offense against Rice. Follow @texansports on Twitter for live updates from the Texas v. Rice game.
