The third-ranked women’s swimming and diving team came away from the first two meets of the year with an 0-2 record after falling to Auburn and Georgia last week.
The Longhorns took first in five events en route to winning the season-opening Leonard Hilton Memorial meet on Friday night. The team competed against Rice, Houston, UT-San Antonio and Louisiana Tech.
Junior Jackson Wilcox led the Longhorns to victory this weekend at the Texas Swimming and Diving Hall of Fame Invitational with the nation’s fastest time in the 500-yard freestyle and a win in the 1,650 freestyle.
Sophomore Laura Sogar once again dominated the pool by setting several school records, most notably in the 200 breaststroke which marked the third time this season that she has lowered her time.
After swimming to an impressive 4-0 record on the road against daunting opponents, fans are finally able to witness their third-ranked Texas team in action.
Laura Sogar is a nationally known swimmer and one of the Longhorns’ best. However, the decision to begin swimming was not one that she made for herself.
Although most older siblings would be upset that their little brother was copying them, Jessica Livingston was glad to have her brother in the same sport.
