This year’s festival will take place Friday, Sept. 28 to Sunday, Sept. 30 and features psychedelic/indie rock band Dr. Dog, Texas singer/songwriter Ben Kweller, bass virtuoso Victor Wooten, Widespread Panic’s Jimmy Herring and, coming all the way from Mexico City, electronica act Mexican Institute of Sound.
A UT alumnus has created an app that intends to take the stress out of finding a ride around the ever-growing Austin area. Still in its beta phase, Heyride! allows people signed up as riders to mark their present location and designate where they want to go.
While the parkour phenomenon has faded through the years, some parkour enthusiasts in Austin are keeping the trend alive. Although American popular culture has glamorized parkour as an extravagant, “I-only-jump-from-the-tallest-exploding-buildings” lifestyle, the discipline’s philosophical backbone is what true parkour trainers enjoy.
