Amidst the cool November weather, 1,800 yellow, Japanese lucky cats are currently sitting on an East Austin lawn, in a perfect Fibonacci spiral, ready to bring warmth and joy to the visitors of the 15th East Austin Studio Tour.
Last year, alumna Stephanie Sandoval and her best friend Antonio shared Four Lokos before nights out. After his death, she scoured campus for as many flavors of his favorite drink she could find to place on his altar.
In one of Jasmine Bell’s poems, she compares her abusive relationship to being lit on fire. Her body is singed, and she is left in ruins. But at the end of the poem, she states, “I will not be burned again.”
