The debate on immigration legislation has somewhat stalled in the Senate for the next couple of weeks, but the House-approved legislation that makes felons of millions of America's lowest-income residents remains a reminder of the rhetoric of insignificance directed at immigrants.
Students must not sit silent, especially here in Texas.
We encourage everyone in the campus community to walk out at 11:11 a.m. and congregate near the Martin Luther King Jr. statue in the East Mall. Here is our chance to deliver a vocal message of support to immigrants who have been both neglected and humiliated in this debate.
