Columnist too critical, critic says

David Henry's article on Josh Jarboe's dismissal reeks of his distaste for the University of Oklahoma and of Bob Stoops ("Stoops shows double standard by dismissing Jarboe," Aug. 4).

I have never read an article in which the analogies used make less sense. Is he aware that Rhett Bomar was considered the No. 1 college quarterback in the country when OU recruited him? Is he aware that Dusty Dvorcek was kicked off the team for a year before being reinstated and that Dvorcek was not just an All-American football player but and Academic All-American as well? Also, Jarboe was the No. 13 player in the country at any position by ESPN. Does he think when OU is thin at the wide receiver position that Stoops was anxious to kick him off?

Considering that UT has been the poster boy for bad behavior recently, and Mack Brown has been missing in action on discipline, it is a joke that he would be stupid enough to point fingers at UT's archenemy. It reeks of jealousy and bias beyond what one would expect from a professional writer.

Regardless of his opinion, the rest of the football world sees Stoops as a stern disciplinarian. The same could not be said for Brown.

The real double standard here is how David Henry views Stoops' behavior and how he views the behavior of those in his own backyard.

I won't even begin to try to mention all the trouble that UT football players have been over the last few years. A number of them were caught with guns in their possession, pot, breaking and entering, stealing, etc., and you can't name one who was booted from the team who could play a lick. Ramonce Taylor was given about five reprieves before he finally flunked out of school. Wonder how he made his grades during the years he was playing or how Vince Young, the King of the Wonderlick test, made his?
