It is an undeniable fact that Tool is one of the most imaginative bands our generation has ever seen. They put on a show that is mesmerizing in every sense of the word. In fact, it isn't even a show - it is an experience.

The difference between this band and all the others is that they are an artistic machine with the pure intent to abrasively stimulate every thought and pore of your mind and body. That is how they are designed; their music vibrates on an eclectic level and holds a lyrical content and delivery that tries to reach into each individual listener's soul and shake vigorously. One almost wouldn't need the assistance of mind-altering drugs; just witnessing the band perform should be enough to put you on a higher plane of existence.

This outfit's latest offering, 10,000 Days, proliferates an extremely contemplative desire to fully grasp what it means to be human. That is the basic premise behind all their past recordings, as well, but this one seems to reverberate one clear and concise message that reverently asks our maker, "Why we are here?"

Amazingly enough, tickets are still available for tonight's show at Frank Erwin Center. Austin is the first stop on Tool's current trek, which will likely be the last tour for this album, so Maynard can focus on his Pussifier project and the rest of the band can take a well-deserved break.

Tonight, no matter if you're a heavy metal freak, rock 'n' roll hippie or just a plain spiritual person, the Erwin Center is the place to be.
