The UT employee salary database is the first interactive database the Texan has released in partnership with the Texas Tribune.
The database contains information on more than 14,000 employees of the University of Texas System’s flagship institution, including professors, lecturers, food servers, fundraisers, parking garage attendants and coaches. The payroll covers $758 million, or 65 percent of UT’s annual expenditures — the largest chunk of UT’s budget.
You can search for a particular employee, such as UT head football coach Mack Brown, the highest paid employee of the state at $5.1 million in guaranteed salary. (Brown’s salary is paid for entirely by revenues from UT athletics and not student fees or state funding.)
A search for “head coach” will return salary data for each of the 18 head coaches employed by UT. Readers can also refine their search by looking by gender and department; for example, searching for all female professors from the Department of English.
Dig in. This is just the beginning of our efforts to bring the data straight to you.
Editor's Note: The listed salaries for coaches in the athletic department include any calculated bonuses they may be receiving.
For employees listed twice in the database, it only reflects the multiple positions they hold. The salary listed is only paid once, they do not receive a salary for each position separately.
