ESPN has canceled the Longhorn Network studio show “Longhorn Extra,” according to a report from the Austin American-Statesman. The show was a nightly news program, but an ESPN spokeswoman told the Statesman that LHN will begin focusing on live events.
According to the Statesman, two in-house directors will likely be re-assigned, but it is unknown how the cancellation affects LHN’s on-air talent.
This is the second show to be cancelled by the network. ESPN previously axed “Texas All Access,” which gave viewers an inside look at Texas football. An ESPN spokeswoman told the Statesman that the concept of “All Access” will remain in other programs.
Despite the move to more live events, the Statesman reported that LHN will still air “Texas GameDay” and other shows featuring UT coaches.
