No. 1 Texas men’s golf holds a seven-shot lead after day one at the Big 12 Championship in Trinity, Texas.

After 36 holes on Friday at the Whispering Pines Golf Club, the Longhorns sit at 9-over par for the tournament. No. 7 Oklahoma State is in second at 16-over.

Junior Beau Hossler fired rounds of even par 72 and 2-under 70 to sit in a tie for first with TCU’s Paul Barjon at 2-under.

Sophomore Doug Ghim is tied for fifth at 2-over with fellow sophomore Scottie Scheffler. Ghim posted rounds of 2-over 74 and 2-under 70. Scheffler shot 1-under 71 and 3-over 74.

Junior Gavin Hall shot 3-over 75 and 4-over 76 to sit in a tie for 15th at 7-over. Redshirt sophomore Taylor Funk is tied for 38th at 13-over after posting rounds of 8-over 80 and 5-over 77.

The Longhorns begin the third round Saturday at 8 a.m..
