At 6-foot-4, 301 pounds Trey Hopkins is an imposing presence on the offensive line. But, he hasn’t always been.
Hopkins was a member of his middle school band, and was more in tune on the basketball court than on the football field.
In junior high, Hopkins played the clarinet in the band, but in ninth grade he eventually dropped out to focus on football, because people were enamored with his size.
But, Hopkins’ love of music has never stopped and in the years following he’s taught himself to play multiple instruments.
“In junior high I taught myself how to play the saxophone, and I’ve also worked on playing the piano and the guitar,” Hopkins said. “It’s just something I’ve always enjoyed, I have a passion for music.”
