On Saturday September 19, 2015 a Police Lives Matter rally was held in downtown Austin. Attendees walked from the Austin Police Department to the Texas Capitol building. Black Lives Matter protested in response to the rally. From the Capitol, the Black Lives Matter protestors marched to I-35. Six Black Lives Matter protesters were arrested that day.

Francis J. Gavin, director of the Robert Strauss Center for International Security and Law, will leave the University in January to accept a position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His successor will be law professor Robert Chesney.
