State Rep. Matt Schaefer said in a tweet that offices in the Texas State Capitol complex have been evacuated due to a suspicious package.

“DPS has evacuated my staff in our Capitol office along with other offices in the vicinity due to a suspicious package,” Schaefer said in the tweet.

Austin police officers were called near the northwest corner of the Capitol grounds for the report of a suspicious package, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the evacuation was limited to two hallways in the Capitol, according to KXAN.
