Beginning today, The Vortex Repertory Company presents The Ratgirls' Holy Rockin' Christmas, an irreverent satire of the birth of Jesus Christ combined with a medley of raucous singing, dancing and other sorts of non-denominational seasonal merry-making. The show is the result of a collaboration among local and celebrity artists, including but not limited to Spicardo the Clown, Bowelboy and the Lady Maggot Supervisor. Each night the Ratgirls host a special guest artist giving his or her own version of holiday festivities. Guest artists are often local talents such as Happy the Hanukkah Clown, Too Much Coffee Girl Alexandra, Sugartoes the Chinaman and Jo Beth Henderson.
"Ratgirl has been in hiding and is coming out and doing arts in public. The time is now for the rats to take over the world." said Bonnie Cullum, producing artistic director at the Vortex Theater. So, to escape the holiday doldrums, go see Holy Rockin' Christmas for some smashingly insolent fun. The Company gives word of caution, however,so the audience will come prepared: "Warning: Cursing, faux nudity and violins."
