The city of Austin's chief information officer officially resigned Wednesday, putting an end to a three-month administrative investigation.
Pete Collins had been on administrative leave since June on internal allegations of using city computers for personal business. The source of the allegations is unnamed, said city of Austin spokesman David Matustik.
Collins supervised the city of Austin's Communications and Technology Management department. It was his responsibility as the chief information officer, a position he held for four years, to make sure the city's technology needs were addressed, as previously reported by The Daily Texan.
The city pursued in the beginning of July an internal investigation into the allegations and chose not to criminally prosecute Collins.
The city will advertise nationally for Collins' replacement within weeks, Matustik said.
