After two weeks of campus-wide campaigning, Student Government, Senate of College Councils and other student position election results were announced on the Main Mall Thursday night.

The Empower ticket won all but one seat in SG, and experience beat youth when history junior Scott Fulford beat business honors sophomore Garrett Fair for Senate president.

There was an 1,100-vote increase for SG positions this year.

"All the hard work paid off," said incoming SG vice president Frankie Shulkin. "Everything we've worked on for the past few months all culminates here, tonight."

Sally Waley is the only independent who captured a position in SG, winning first place in the pool of College of Liberal Arts representatives, which brought her defeated Empower opponent to tears.

"I was expecting to get last place, if anything," Waley said. "I'm just happy to get the opportunity to address the Student Government. You don't always get that opportunity."
